One of the most awaited moments on the planet is coming: the World Cup. It has a great power to turn the economy and even influence the marketing of companies.
After all, everyone gets in the World Cup mood, and this is a great opportunity to think of more creative campaigns using football elements.
However, some care should be taken so that you do not compromise the image of your company. That is why I decided to make this post.
Beware of copyrights
A World Cup is a competition in which countries have uniforms that were made by a brand, besides having the official sponsors.
Therefore, you cannot simply use the image of the national team’s jersey, or even a player’s in your creative processes.
Having this attention prevents you from facing problems later, but does not prevent you from using this moment in your marketing campaigns.
How to combine the World Cup with marketing?
Just like every year with the World Cup, at SEDA we get in the mood. But in order not to have problems with copyrights we take some care.
So what we do, we work well with the football elements in a marketing campaign. And that opens up a range of alternatives. In our campaigns we talk about dribbling, victories, goals without mentioning the event or a team itself.
For example, let’s imagine you have a company that sells T-shirts. You can’t make a national team t-shirt to avoid problems.
But you can explore the colours of your country, the flag and do something creative and cool at the same time. This is a way to take advantage of the moment.
Let’s imagine now that your business is offering investment products. In your campaigns you can work with some football situations.
For example: “Get out of the crisis and start investing in your future today to score a goal in your life”. Notice that you have referred the reader to the elements of the World Cup without necessarily using the event.
Work with generic, football-related photos
For the artwork part, you can take generic photos to work with. A player running on the pitch, someone scoring a goal or even lifting a cup.
It’s very easy to use Photoshop or Illustrator to colour match the player’s shirt to your team colours. And you’re not hurting any copyrights.
The idea of the campaigns is to make people feel like consuming your product and at the same time see that your company has entered the World Cup atmosphere.
And no matter how many problems we have in our lives, political differences and not agreeing with many things in football, this is a unique moment, which fills hearts with hope and unites all the people of the country.
It is a moment when differences are put aside, and everyone just wants to give a single cry at the end: “Champion”. Did you like this article? Then leave your comment and share it on your social networks.
