Have you ever stopped to think about what values you are transmitting to your followers and how you are impacting their lives?
Thinking about this is very important, because we as leaders have a very big responsibility in society.
After all, we are opinion makers, and we can impact both negatively and positively on people’s lives. And that is a tremendous responsibility.
That’s why I see that besides the necessary skills for the job, we also have the obligation to transmit good moral values to our followers.
And then I ask: are you transmitting these values?
We are in a time when news travels very fast on the internet. I see fake news being spread at a breakneck speed.
I also see people who are always committed to transmitting the truth and values that are really important for our lives.
Given this, I put myself under the obligation of trying to have a positive impact on the lives of my followers, either with words, gestures, or even by stimulating their critical sense.
After all, if we want to have better politicians, we also need to improve as people. The political class is a reflection of society when it comes to power.
Honesty and empathy
I see that among the most important values that we can transmit in our daily lives are honesty and empathy. These 2 feelings are real pillars in our lives.
When we transmit these values to people we are showing that it is really worth being good. Honesty is in every detail of our lives, even when we return the wrong change.
Empathy consists of putting yourself in the person’s shoes before judging them fiercely. Remember that each of us has walked a different path.
That is why we look at the world through different lenses, with values inherited from our families. And seeking to see the world through this new angle is crucial if we want to be leaders who truly impact people’s lives.
Recognition and encouragement
Finally, a good leader needs to recognise the efforts of those he leads. Even if they are failing to meet targets and deliver the desired results.
Remember that recognition is essential. Because it shows that you are aware of everything they are doing and are supporting them to achieve their goals.
This incentive plays a very important role in changing people’s lives. When they are encouraged, they feel more motivated to move forward and continue giving their best.
If you do not encourage your people, showing how important they are to your company and how much you believe in them, you will hardly have a team fully engaged and willing to give their best.
Therefore, if you want your company to prosper, rethink the values you are transmitting to your team members. This is the first step for everyone to grow together.
