The psychological pains of those who put their heart into the business and were fired!

-

Lucas landed his dream job. He always wanted to work at this startup, and that’s why he was euphoric as soon as he received the news of his hiring.

The first days were filled with a joy that didn’t fit in his chest. He brought ideas, took work home, really put his heart into what he did.

He thought about how to improve the processes, signed up for a course to improve his skills and became sure that he had found his path.

Six months passed, Lucas was beaming about all his projects and how he was loving working at his new company, until…

His phone rang

It was the HR manager calling him for an urgent conversation. “What have I done?” he thought. After a brief reflection he didn’t remember anything serious.

A feeling of distress invaded his heart. He crossed the endless corridor and reached the room, where the manager with a serious look was waiting for him.

He entered the room, and after brief greetings he was informed that he was being dismissed from the company due to cost cuts.

Disappointment. Sadness. Disappointment. There were many feelings that took over Lucas’s heart at that moment. All dreams dashed. What to do going forward?

The Pains of Disillusionment

Just like Lucas, many technology and marketing professionals felt during the year 2022 what it is like to put your heart into the business and be disappointed.

The psychological pains are great. The difficulty is immense. Getting up after a fall like that is not easy. But what I have to say: no amount of financial pain is worth your health.

The lesson learned from such a situation is the following: work, professional achievement must be your career, your dream, you.

Don’t put any expectations on top of a company. Wear your shirt, work with your heart, but knowing that you are doing it for yourself.

So, when faced with disappointment, you will be more prepared, knowing that cuts in a company are inevitable, and that this does not impede your personal growth.

The job goes, your career stays

Even if the dream job may have slipped through your hands, know that your career remains. Detach yourself from social status.

Realize that you did your best, take a breath and know that something better is in store for you. When you put your career above any company, the frustration will be much less in a layoff.

So, if you’ve put your heart into the business and felt the sad pain of disappointment, change your focus from now on. Invest in your career, do your best in the company, but know that your dream is yours, and it cannot be based on any company.
