The implications of artificial intelligence in the workforce: which occupations are most at risk?

-

Today I’m going to talk about a topic that I think is very important. As an entrepreneur, I have closely followed the changes that technology has brought to the world of work.

According to a report by the World Economic Forum, it is estimated that automation could replace around 85 million jobs worldwide in the next five years.

One of the most significant changes is the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in companies, after all, it brings many benefits, such as increased efficiency and reduced errors.

However, AI also has significant implications for the workforce. One of the biggest concerns is that many occupations are at risk of being automated.

But which of them have their days numbered?

According to a McKinsey report, occupations that have a high risk of being automated include routine, repetitive, and standardized tasks.

Among the main ones are machine operators, telemarketing attendants, supermarket cashiers, store attendants and several other occupations.

However, it is important to note that automation does not necessarily mean the disappearance of these occupations, but rather a change in the tasks that are carried out by workers.

This means that there will be a greater demand for workers who specialize in areas such as programming, data analysis and AI systems management.

These workers will need advanced math, computer science, and engineering skills, as well as being creative problem solvers.

That is, more than ever, it will be necessary for governments to invest in quality education to prepare people for these occupations.

Fewer traditional jobs

What I also see is that many traditional occupations will be eliminated or changed, which could lead to a reduction in the number of traditional jobs, having a significant impact on the global economy and the workforce.

However, new occupations will emerge, such as creating and maintaining AI systems and robotics, for example.

To adapt to changes, many workers will need to retrain for jobs that involve human skills, such as creativity, empathy and communication.

Education itself, as we know it today, will need to reinvent itself. After all, teaching skills like problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking will be more important than ever.

Changes in the work structure

Finally, I believe that AI and automation will also lead to significant changes in the structure of work, with more people working remotely and fewer working full-time.

There will also be an increase in the number of self-employed workers and entrepreneurs. As a result, I believe there will be a significant improvement in companies’ efficiency and productivity, with fewer errors and more accuracy.

The consequence is better quality of products and services, as well as a reduction in production costs. Ultimately, the future of the workforce is uncertain, but it is a fact that artificial intelligence will significantly impact how people work.

Therefore, it is important to be prepared for changes and willing to adapt to remain relevant in the job market. With the proper preparation, AI can be a valuable tool for you to have a better quality of life.

Ultimately, it all depends on how society uses artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies. Used responsibly, they can lead to a future of greater efficiency, productivity and human well-being. Do you agree?
