In 2020, the world underwent a real transformation with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic. We were all forced to reinvent ourselves.
At the time, I was one of the entrepreneurs who most felt the blow of that moment. After all, it was in one of the most affected sectors: exchange. Everything was closed.
In this need to reinvent itself, we created SEDA College Online. And from then on, I saw how much this was a democratic project in people’s lives.
An exchange without leaving home
When I thought of the idea of creating SEDA College Online, the first thing that came to my mind was: to do something different from traditional online English courses.
Especially because if I followed the same path as everyone else, I would simply be swimming in the red ocean. And what I wanted to achieve at the time was the blue ocean.
So the idea was to think of a project in which the student could understand that he was not simply taking an online English course, but rather a distance exchange.
So we thought, let’s take the whole experience of the exchange to the courses, and that’s how we differentiate ourselves from our competitors. It worked out.
Changes along the way
Over time, the pandemic passed, borders opened up, and students showed that they were eager to go back on the exchange.
Is it time to discontinue the project? Not in my head. However, I changed the philosophy behind SEDA College Online a little more, and turned it into an extension of the exchange.
How so Tiago? See, we showed that when you arrive prepared for an exchange, you have more chances of accelerating adaptation and learning, getting a job faster, among other things.
So what do we do? Preparing SEDA College Online students for a subsequent exchange. In other words, students arrive in Ireland one step ahead of the rest.
Products offered by SEDA Online
Depending on the chosen plan, students participate in a workshop to learn how to create an international career, have English classes for interviews, and a 20% discount on the exchange program at SEDA College Dublin.
Other than that, they still participate in more than 150 lives to have an immersion in Ireland. So when they get here they are much more prepared.
When we adopted this philosophy at SEDA College Online, we managed to leverage the results even more, and we noticed how the project was very democratic.
After all, there were students who didn’t even know where to start an exchange journey, and now they know a lot, and are even more prepared for that moment.
That’s why, in a very difficult moment, I managed not only to identify an opportunity, but also to create something that democratized the exchange in the country.
