I was always a kid who liked sports. However, I can say that I became more active after I discovered Jiu-Jitsu, and that’s when I saw how essential the sport is in our lives.
Of course, I know that with the hectic lives we currently have, it’s often difficult to find time to exercise, but it’s important to find that time.
Whether because of the benefits it brings to physical health, or because of the mental health benefits. And in this article I will talk a little more about these benefits.
Healt mind healt body
I’m going to start the post with the mental benefits, after all, physical exercise is a great way to relieve stress and anxiety, as it stimulates the production of endorphins, which is the substance responsible for the feeling of well-being.
When I exercise, I feel a sense of relaxation and release of tension that is difficult to describe in words.
Not to mention that I feel an incredible improvement in self-esteem and self-confidence, which helps us achieve goals and challenges that previously seemed impossible.
However, one thing I want to highlight here is how exercise helps memory and the prevention of degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. That’s why it’s so important to play sports.
Body in movement
As everyone knows the benefits of physical exercise are not just limited to mental health. Movement is essential for the health of the body as a whole, helping to prevent several chronic diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity.
In addition, it contributes to strengthening bones and muscles, improving posture and preventing injuries and back pain. It also contributes to improving blood circulation and cardiovascular capacity, reducing the risk of heart disease.
And don’t be fooled into thinking you have to spend hours in the gym to reap these benefits. Small activities in everyday life, such as walking to work or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, can make a big difference in your health.
Challenge yourself!
Another positive aspect of physical exercise is that it can be a pleasant and fun activity, as long as it is chosen according to each person’s preferences and limitations.
I, for example, really enjoy practicing Jiu-Jitsu, but I know that other people prefer to dance, play soccer, do yoga or any other activity that makes them feel good.
That’s why you don’t necessarily have to do the same sport as me. You can find the one that brings the most pleasure to your life. The important thing, however, is to challenge yourself!
You can start small, setting small goals and respecting your limits. Over time, you’ll find your body and mind thank you. I see how good this has done for my life.
And if it did me so good, it will certainly!
