How will technology contribute to the environment?

-

Anyone who follows the news around the world knows that one of today’s biggest concerns is undoubtedly the environment.

You don’t need to be an expert to observe that the climate is not normal. Extreme temperatures, both in winter and summer, are increasingly common.

And then comes the question: where does it all end? The good news is that technological advances will be an important ally of the environment.

As new technologies appear in the market, the smaller the environmental impact will be. Below I will talk a little more about this perspective.

Creation of new environmental solutions

Just to cite some examples of technological advances and contribution to the environment, I will talk a little about solar energy.

Until a few decades ago this type of technology was not widespread, and today it is already very accessible for both houses and flats.

Although solar energy has a high implementation cost, it contributes greatly to reducing environmental degradation, since energy generation is one of the factors that most contributes to degradation.

The arrival of electric cars on the market

Another creation that has also greatly contributed to the reduction of environmental degradation was the emergence of electric cars. And this will have a great impact in the future.

They are still in their infancy, but in Europe they are already gaining a lot of strength in the market. Tesla, one of the largest companies in the world, is investing more and more heavily in the production of these cars.

This eliminates the need to burn fossil fuels that also contribute to a huge degradation of the environment.

Sustainable practices in companies

The companies themselves have already understood that it is no longer possible to think of the future without implementing sustainable practices in their production lines.

Besides collaborating for a cost reduction, this is fundamental to contribute with the environment. And consumers will be more and more demanding from now on.

Home office work itself contributes to this sustainability. Just imagine the number of people who no longer need to take the car out of the garage and emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Not to mention the online meetings that also replace the face-to-face ones. On an international level, when holding a meeting remotely, the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere is even lower.

Replacing paper

Another point that few people notice, but that makes a big difference is the way technology is replacing paper.

Today we can schedule all our appointments online, we use less paper to make notes and all this contributes to the environment.

Not to mention the money itself, which used to be printed in a much larger quantity. With the digitalisation of the banks it will be less and less necessary to carry physical cash in your pocket.

In general, I see that as technology advances, the better the contribution to the environment, a pity that we have almost reached the extreme for this to happen.
