I see that when we think about doing an exchange, many doubts arise in our minds. One of them is: will the money invested bring a return?
Note that this is a pertinent question, and one that I have also asked myself. At first, we thought about living in another country with only one purpose: to improve our English.
After all, with fluent English, we believe that we will have more job offers, that we will be able to grow in our professions, in short, we think of a wide range of possibilities. But do we really visualize all the advantages?
The doors that open during the exchange
What I see, in fact, is that the exchange opens many more doors than those we believe. As I said, usually the idea is to spend 8 months abroad, return to Brazil, and grow professionally.
However, the truth is that a sea of possibilities unfolds in your life. One is the possibility of continuing to live abroad, even after completing the exchange program.
Have you ever thought that you might receive a good job offer in the country? Have you considered that you might see a business idea that you hadn’t thought of before, and take that same idea to Brazil?
Well, as you can see, there are many more possibilities when it comes to doing an exchange program than you might think. And the possibilities don’t stop there.
I saw many students start an exchange program here in Ireland, and then leave for other countries in Europe because they got a job in their areas of expertise.
Others started a master’s program, and there were still those who got a job right here in the country and are making a career.
My exchange journey
I was one of those people who came to do an exchange program to grow professionally in Brazil. He had a profession, a career he intended to pursue in the country.
However, doors I never imagined opened in my life. And when I least realized it, I was with my English school helping people to make their dreams come true.
This school has grown so much that today I look back on the last decade of my life and I can only be grateful for the decision I made to go on an exchange program.
She was one of the best decisions. I can even say that if it weren’t for that decision, maybe I wouldn’t have made it this far.
Don’t be afraid to take a risk
In view of everything I went through, and that brought me here, I can tell you the following: don’t be afraid to take chances. I know it’s an important decision, and one that needs to be weighed.
But fear can keep you from taking bigger flights. It can even make it impossible for you to open doors that could create possibilities you never imagined.
So, as someone who has already been through this decision, and who saw how important it was, what I can say is: take a risk. You can be sure that a new world of opportunities will appear.
