How far should we “swallow frog” in the company?

-

Yesterday I saw a post on LinkedIn that made me reflect. One person had said that in just one day of hiring she had been humiliated at the company, and because of that, she evidently asked for the bill.

However, what I was thinking is that there are countless professionals who go through this every day and end up “swallowing this frog”, after all, they are afraid of change, they need to honor their accounts and therefore cannot afford to leave .

Especially because, in Brazil, there is little support for those who ask for the bill at work, and if you do, you will not be entitled to unemployment insurance, FGTS, and other securities to guarantee your cost of living until you find a new job.

So, how to act in such a situation?

In view of this unfavorable environment, I thought: how can a professional act in such a situation? Is reporting abuse to HR managers an effective strategy?

After all, outsiders may not see the situation the same way, and may believe you’re trying to pick a fight with your boss. And if it brings results to the company, it will make the situation even worse.

I see that this is really a point of great professional pain, as it is a case of serious moral harassment that takes away the person’s will to work and develop.

Here in Ireland I’ve seen reports of people who got their first job and were practically massacred by their employers. Honestly, I think the time has come to say “Enough” to this situation.

Organization and mutual help to change

In my opinion, a viable way for someone who is going through this to break free is to start an organization on social networks, with the creation of groups of people who are going through the same situation.

How many times have we not heard that unity makes strength, right? Well, it’s time to show this union, so that you can strengthen yourself together with other people who are going through the same problem.

What you can’t do is for professionals who are talented and who have a whole life ahead of them, to lose the twinkle in their eye, the motivation, because of irresponsible bosses, and I say bosses, because these people cannot be considered leaders.

So what I have to say is: ADVERTISE the problem. That’s right, come to social media and report what you’re going through. No one is forced to swallow that kind of frog, because they have bills to pay.

If we don’t publicly identify the people who are doing this, we will never be able to change the country’s reality. And we will hardly transform the work environment for the better.
