As a leader, I always look for ways to improve my employees’ experience and build more human relationships with them. I believe this is the best way.
After all, it is important that they feel valued and engaged with the work they perform. But what’s the secret to it? In my point of view it is the use of technology strategically.
According to Buffer’s “The State of Remote Work” survey, 81% of workers believe technology has helped maintain human relationships even while working remotely.
Furthermore, 92% feel that it helps to maintain a greater connection. In this article, I’m going to share how I use technology to build more human relationships. Come with me!
Efficient Communication
Technology allows communication to be more efficient and faster than ever before. I use several messaging apps like Slack to keep the team connected and to ensure information is shared quickly.
In addition, I use video conferencing tools, such as meet, to hold regular meetings with the team, which allows me to get to know my employees better and build more human relationships with them.
That is, no one else needs to be present at meetings, everything can be done online, and this brings much more freedom than ever.
Focus on Collaboration
Due to technology, the team collaborates more efficiently. For example, I use project platforms like Asana to make sure everyone is on the same page.
I also try to encourage my team to share ideas and suggestions using forums or discussion groups, which helps build a culture of collaboration and enrich human relationships between employees.
Flexibility
As I’ve said a few times, I allow my team to work remotely, which means they can work from anywhere, anytime.
To manage this well, I use time management tools like Toggl to make sure everyone is using their time efficiently and productively.
These tools help me to give my employees more freedom and flexibility, building more human relationships with them.
Feedback and Recognition
As a leader, it is important that I maintain a human and close relationship with my employees, so that they feel valued and motivated to perform the best work possible.
And there is no way to say that technology is not a great ally at this point. To give you an idea, one of the first things I did was implement an instant messaging system.
With it I can send direct messages to collaborators, and maintain a conversation with more than one person at once. Also, I can upload files and share relevant links, making communication more efficient and easier.
Another tool I use is the team management system that allows me to monitor the performance of each employee, and thus provide feedback and appropriate adjustments.
With this system I organize tasks and projects, ensuring that everyone knows exactly what is expected of them. In general, technology has not cooled relationships, but has made them even more human. Do you agree?
