How did I turn an idea into a successful company?

-

I have always dreamed of helping people have access to quality education. At 33, I left the interior of São Paulo and went to study English in Ireland, where I realized how much education can transform people’s lives.

Arriving here I faced all the challenges you can imagine. I worked as a waiter and in several other professions until you opened the silk. I struggled a lot at the beginning.

But over the years, silk has become a reference, with offices in 9 countries, and has been awarded for three consecutive years as Ireland’s best language school.

To date, the institution has formed more than 20,000 students from different nationalities and, annually, our revenue has exceeded R $ 30 million.

The idea

When I started thinking about College Silk, I realized that many students had difficulty learning a new language because of the outdated and unlike teaching method.

In addition, the costs to study abroad were very high and inaccessible to most people. So I decided to create a language school that offered high quality courses at affordable prices, focusing on practical and effective teaching.

The beginning

As I said earlier, when I arrived in Dublin, I had to face many challenges, including financial and communication difficulties. But I didn’t give up on my dream.

At first, when I founded the silk I began to publicize the school on social networks and through mouth to mouth. Just like every beginning, it was not easy. But I persisted.

I wanted from the bottom of my heart to give Brazilians the opportunity to live in Ireland, to realize their dreams. Today I can say that my goal has been accomplished.

The growth

At the beginning of everything College was a small Dublin school. Maybe I didn’t even imagine the size of growth at the time. It was so much that today we already have offices in 9 countries, in addition to an exchange agency.

Overcoming

As a black entrepreneur in an English -speaking country, I had to overcome many obstacles. Who is black knows what I am saying. You know the difficulties we face.

But I had a dream. And when we dream and believe, our dreams come true. At first, after being a waiter, I recommended courses for non -native exchange students.

It was after three months in Barcelona that I was convinced that I really wanted to work with education. Today I can say that I am a performing person.

The vision

My vision has always been to offer quality education at affordable prices for everyone, regardless of their financial condition or geographical location.

Silk College is an example of how a dream can become a successful company and how education can change people’s lives.

After success in Dublin last year, we decided to expand to other cities in Ireland. We opened the second unit of the College Silk in Cork and it became a great success.

The democratization of teaching

The world will only be better with the democratization of teaching when everyone has access to quality education. I believe that education can change people’s lives and that it must be within everyone’s reach.

I decided to tell a little about my story to show that when we want, we reach. And if you have a dream, don’t give up on it. If you can dream, you can do it too!
