Finding good talent in the market is not an easy task. I say that this is the real challenge of an HR department.
However, here at SEDA I always try to keep a close eye on this search and find the right people for the right positions.
This does not always happen, which is normal. After all, many times the expectations of both the company and the employee are frustrated and it is necessary to start the search all over again.
However, after a talent is identified and really put in the right place, from that moment on I do everything to not let it escape.
What kind of recognition do you work with?
I try to work recognising the talents of the company in various ways. Be it through bonuses, promotions or even compliments.
I know how difficult it is for people starting their careers, and how this is a process that needs our support and recognition.
Many of those in leadership positions here today started at the bottom. Even as students here at the school. This is another point that I also pay a lot of attention to.
After all, the student who arrives here in Ireland is full of plans and willpower. And I know that anyone who ventures on an exchange programme alone already has a lot of potential within themselves.
So, I try to give opportunities to students who have the desire to work and who show some kind of special talent.
Teamwork is highly valued
Another issue that I also value a lot here in the company is teamwork. I think it is fundamental for the success of the business and even of the professionals themselves.
That’s why, whenever we have an important decision to make, we get the whole team together and ask what each one thinks, and what path each person would indicate.
I listen to everyone very carefully, because I know that from these meetings come fantastic and brilliant ideas that really change the course of the work.
Besides, it’s where I observe everyone’s ability to perform under pressure, their critical sense and their ability to create. It amazes me how it stimulates all the employees.
Encouragement at all times
Finally, I couldn’t help but say that encouragement is one of the greatest recognitions we provide here. Because that is the fuel that stimulates people.
The more encouragement someone receives, the more motivated they are to work. And even in the case of mistakes I try to be as uncritical as possible, trying to show the error in a way that encourages the employee to improve.
I believe that a harmonious working environment is fundamental so that the talent of each employee emerges and with this he can excel not only here, but throughout his professional career. Do you agree?
