My experience as an entrepreneur: where it all began!

-

My story is a real overcoming. I was born in the city of Votorantim, in a lower middle class family and did my first years of primary school in a public school.

However, at the age of 15 I won a scholarship at a private technical school for young people in Sorocaba, a city near mine.

To get to school I received help from the town hall of Votorantim, which subsidised bus fares for students.

With great difficulty I did a private university degree in economics. I worked hard to pay for my studies. And when I graduated, I fulfilled my dream of coming to live in Ireland.

The beginning of SEDA College

When I arrived in the country I knew it wouldn’t be easy, after all, Brazilians struggle to survive here in the beginning. But I was already used to the difficulties.

The main one when I arrived was to understand the language. In the beginning I worked as a waiter and then I did a specialisation course in accounting.

I got closer to the language market when I recommended courses to non-native English-speaking exchange students. It was after three months in Barcelona doing a specialisation in English for teaching that I decided to open the first SEDA unit.

A dream was beginning in my life.

Back in 2009, perhaps I did not know the dimension that my life would take. SEDA was truly a game changer for my future.

Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task, but the challenges are motivating, and this moved me more and more forward. And my dream was not just to make money.

As I had gone through a lot of difficulty in life, I wanted from the bottom of my heart to help other people achieve their desire without having to go through such an ordeal.

I like to say that I work for the democratisation of education. I see that most schools still fail when it comes to preparing young people for the job market.

And at SEDA I seek not only to teach English, but to give all this support to prepare people to develop and get to where they want to be.

The purpose I have in my life

Since I started as an entrepreneur I have created a purpose in my life, which is to help people. And in every business I enter I try to find that purpose.

For those who are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, what I have to say is: go ahead. Despite the difficulties, in the end it’s all worth it.

There is nothing more rewarding than generating jobs, thinking of new ideas, talking to people and evolving and making your neighbour evolve.

My experience with entrepreneurship started this way, with a lot of difficulty. And yours? Tell us in the comments and share this article with your friends on social networks.
