The year was 2021 when Abmex carried out its first transaction in September 2021. Few believed in its success, and the start was difficult and challenging for Breno and Alexander.
However, the months were favorable and on December 31, 2021, we closed the Company’s balance sheet. There were total sales of R$ 774 thousand. That’s just in the MVP phase. We were excited.
After all, in just one year we started from zero and managed to earn an average of R$ 70,000 per month. But we wanted more. Our project was daring and we made a decision.
Summer 2022, a new milestone
In that hot month of January 2022, Abmex opened its doors to the market and began to receive users from anywhere in Brazil. From that moment on, it wasn’t just guest users. That was the end of the MVP phase.
The purpose was beginning to show promise: offering zero fees to the online course market. Management always followed with prudence, seeking to optimize costs, seek investments and grow sustainably.
However, the growth was unstoppable. To give you an idea, Abmex grew so much that it doubled the entire sales value of 2021 in just the first 3 months of 2022.
That’s right, that summer of 2022 was extremely promising, and we earned more than R$ 1.5 million. However, the months to come would be even more aggressive, and we ended 2022 with a total volume of R$ 29 million in sales.
BRL 40 million in just 4 months
Faced with such growth, we opened the company’s e-commerce. It was a modest step, but at the same time a gigantic one to grow even more.
The beginning of this year, despite the economic downturn in Brazil and around the world, continued to be promising for our fintech. It’s the result? BRL 40 million in just 4 months.
Yes, you didn’t read that wrong: from January to April 2023, Abmex’s revenue was R$ 40 million. Do you know what our goal was for the year? R$ 100 million in sales. That is, we sold more than ⅓ in the first 4 months of the year.
And detail: most of this sale was concentrated in April. To give you an idea, in January the sale was R$ 6.9 million in the month, in April the volume was R$ 17 million.
And May started even more aggressively with a sale of approximately R$ 1 million per day. This made us redo all the econometric projections for the year.
More than 1.5 million registered users
Currently, just over two years after kicking off, Abmex already has more than 1.5 million users, and according to our econometric projections, it should reach the mark of R$ 500 million in sales by 2023 .
In other words, the target of R$ 100 million should be exceeded approximately 5 times. But what is the secret to such success in such a short time?
I attribute it to the fact that Abmex is not just a payment technology platform for online courses, but has opened up other verticals in e-commerce, SaaS company transactions, payment links and services in general.
This expands the opportunities for the startup to operate in the market. And even in the face of such growth, the purpose continues to be maintained: to help small producers with zero tax. And this is just the beginning of a dream!
