Another Christmas has arrived, and how are your feelings?

-

Today is the 23rd of December. Last day that I write this newsletter before Christmas arrives. Moment of inner reflection.

There is no way to think about Christmas without looking inside and see how was our attitude during the past year. Were we better? Worse?

Always at this time of the year I try to take stock of which feelings I was able to improve and which ones I could not change.

I believe that setting professional and even financial goals is very important for the following year. But I believe that improving our feelings should be a constant search always when the year is about to turn.

A blank page to be written

I like to think of life as a book. Each year is a new chapter, and each chapter has 365 pages. Each day is a page. Some chapters have a happy ending, others not so much.

Always when we start a new chapter of a book we don’t know what lies ahead. Will a character die, get married, get a job, get fired?

That is how I see the beginning of the year. A chapter with nothing written, and that it is up to us to write it the best way possible, so that it will be a happy chapter.

Nobody is free from the difficulties that may appear. We don’t know when an illness may arise, a new love, a good job or a letter of resignation.

But we can control our feelings to deal with both the good and the bad moments of our lives.

Serenity in the face of events

Keeping serenity in the face of events I believe is one of the best ways to have a positive year at the end.

It is normal that you receive good and bad news. When everything is good, avoid getting ecstatic, avoid believing that this is not forever. Enjoy the joy, but with serenity.

The same goes for times of difficulty. Understand that they are lessons in our life, necessary for our moral improvement.

Now, so close to Christmas, look back and see how your year 2022 was. Take stock of the events and how you managed them.

See that many of them you could have controlled, others you could not. So what matters in the end is not control over what is to come.

What really matters is the way we control our feelings before the fact that bad or good will inevitably happen one hour or another in our lives.

Emotional intelligence must be a daily conquest, a page to be written every day. And so when the end of chapter 2023 of your life comes, you will see that it was worthwhile. A Merry Christmas of much light!
