I have always believed in the transformative power of real stories. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to meet incredible people whose experiences have inspired me.
When I got into Jiu-Jitsu, I began to have even more contact with inspiring stories of athletes who faced the most difficult adversities not only in sports but in life.
That is why, when I decided to make the documentary “Work Gives Back”, I thought about giving visibility to these stories, reinforcing the impact that Jiu-Jitsu can have on these people’s lives. I hope you like it!
The importance of telling this story
Jiu-Jitsu is more than a sport; it is a powerful tool for social transformation. And this is very easy to see in the social projects that we support.
Over the years, I have seen first-hand how it can rescue lives, provide discipline and offer new perspectives to those who are often on the margins of society.
This documentary was born from the desire to show that, with dedication and opportunity, it is possible to rewrite trajectories, giving people back the dignity and respect they deserve.
Why Jiu-Jitsu?
Our focus on Jiu-Jitsu goes beyond the mats. The sport teaches valuable lessons in resilience, respect, and overcoming obstacles.
In addition, it is an accessible practice that can be introduced in low-income communities, helping children and young people stay away from dangerous paths.
Jiu-Jitsu transforms, not only physically, but also mentally, preparing its practitioners for life’s challenges.
The power of example
In the documentary, we highlight real stories of people who, through Jiu-Jitsu, managed to overcome barriers and transform their lives.
The project was inspired by the certainty that, by sharing these stories, we can motivate others to follow the same path.
When we show how sports restore self-esteem and offer new opportunities, we are, in fact, giving back to society what hard work and commitment to individual growth can provide.
A message of hope
The title “Work Gives Back” sums up the purpose of the documentary well: what we invest in effort and dedication returns in the form of achievements and significant changes.
Throughout this project, SEDA, together with partners and supporters, reaffirms its commitment to social transformation.
We believe that by giving people back the opportunity to dream and fight for their goals, we are fulfilling our mission of positively impacting the world around us.
My hope is that “Work Gives Back” inspires more initiatives like this one and that we can continue supporting projects that give back to society what it needs most: opportunities and hope.
