At this time of year I see a lot of people talking about achievements, everything they achieved in 2023, and that 2024 will be an even more prosperous year of harmony and peace.
But was everything in 2023 really a bed of roses? I also like to reflect on what went wrong, for a very simple reason: mistakes make us stronger and make us better.
Furthermore, when we have the ability to look at what went wrong and understand what made it go wrong, we stop making the same mistake, and thus get more and more right, year after year.
The importance of praising what went wrong
I like to look back and face mistakes to strengthen myself even more. Was 2023 a year that everything went right? Obviously not. I have nothing to be grateful for, but I also have a lot to learn from what went wrong.
There were errors in strategy, moments in which I distrusted my ability, errors in fights in the championships I competed in. Anyway, there was no shortage of mistakes this year.
But with each mistake, I saw it as a learning experience. Just like a student who made a mistake in an exercise, but then learned and won’t make mistakes again.
Am I going to say that 2024 will be a year of peace and prosperity? Neither. It is impossible that in 365 days there will not be moments of pain, difficulty and dissatisfaction.
But with each new mistake I improve as a person, understanding the reason for it, and trying to make fewer and fewer mistakes as I go.
What do I expect for 2024?
Well, now you can ask me what I expect for 2024? The truth is that all I want most is for it to be a year with more successes than mistakes. That’s simple.
I know I won’t get it right in all my marketing campaigns, I know I won’t get it right in every fight I fight, nor will I get it right in all my personal decisions.
After all, I am a human being full of successes and mistakes. Therefore, what I hope for is not a year in which everything goes well, but rather that the successes are greater than the mistakes.
And so, as the years go by, the idea is to make fewer and fewer mistakes, learning from mistakes, so that at the end of this journey I can say that I learned a lot from life, and that each wrong step made me stronger as a person.
Therefore, what I wish for 2024 is not a year full of peace and harmony, as I know this is a utopia, but a year in which you have the strength to overcome obstacles and the wisdom to learn from your mistakes. Happy New Year!
